Applications & Auditions

Marlboro Music's 59th Season will take place from June 28th-August 16th, 2009 on the campus of Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT. Musicians are expected to be in residence for the full seven-week season.

Auditions are held only as positions become available, and are currently planned for violin and voice.

Piano applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

String Audition Schedule and Requirements

Violin auditions for the 2009 Season will be held January 4 and 5, 2009, at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Our audition committee selects applicants to audition on the basis of a CD recording along with an application form (available below). NOTE: We ask that musicians NOT send DVD recordings, which are less useful to our committee.

The CD should be at least 15 minutes in length and include at least two selections for your instrument alone or accompanied by piano (or orchestra).

Application forms and recordings are due no later than Friday, November 21st, 2008.

Vocal Auditions

Dates for vocal auditions are to be determined. Interested applicants should send an application form (see below). CD recordings are not required for singers.

Auditions for Pianists

Pianists interested in auditioning for Marlboro should submit an application form (see below) and a recording.

The recording should include at least:

  • One work by Haydn or Mozart
  • One work by Beethoven, Schubert, or Schumann
