Tour Group One: October 11 – 19, 2014
The first east coast tour of the season offers a program with a wonderful mix of unique chamber works typical of Musicians from Marlboro tours. There’s the haunting Debussy Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp, Beethoven’s String Quintet in C and Kurtág’s Officium breve in memoriam Andreæ Szervánszky for string quartet around which the program was built after a stunning performance in Vermont. The programs also features the Trio for Flute, Violin and Viola by Szervánszky himself.
Tour Group Two (National Tour): October 31 – November 8, 2014
A Boston reviewer wrote that this recent east coast tour group performed Britten’s remarkable String Quartet No. 3 “with passionate yet restrained dignity and angelic beatitude.” A beautiful Haydn piano trio and Fauré’s G Minor Piano Quartet frame this wonderful program.
Tour Group Three: February 7 – 15, 2015
This incredibly rich program combines vocal works with music for four hand piano and piano trios. Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio shares the program with delightful duets by Dvorak and Brahms for soprano and mezzo and works by Kurtag and Schubert. This promises to be an especially unique program that should not be missed.
Tour Group Four: May 2 – 10, 2015
The program for the final east coast tour of the season presents works by three of the greatest composers of the Western musical canon. Built around Brahms’ String Quartet in C Minor, which received a wonderful performance in the summer of 2012, this program also offers a chance to hear rarely-heard chamber works for strings and winds by Beethoven and Mozart.
