Cello

Application Requirements

 Application Form plus preliminary recordings of the following:

Two contrasting works from the accompanied or unaccompanied solo repertoire (OR two substantial movements from contrasting works). Clarinet

Application Requirements

Application Form and prescreening video recordings of the bassoon part for the following excerpts:

1. Weber Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B-flat major, Op. 34, mov’t I Exposition (beginning to m. 92)
2. Brahms Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B minor, Op. 115, mov’t II, measures 42-72
3. Bartók Contrasts for Violin, Clarinet, and Piano, mov’t I Cadenza

Applicants will be invited to audition on the basis of prescreening recordings.

Double Bass

Application Requirements

(Note: at this time, no pre screening materials are required for Double Bass.)

AUDITION REPERTOIRE

Solo Portion

One Movement of choice from a Cello Suite by J.S. Bach AND One work in contrasting style, from the accompanied or unaccompanied repertoire

Chamber Music Portion

Schubert, Octet in F major, D. 803: Movements 1 and 2 AND Prokofiev, Quintet for Oboe, Clarinet, and Strings, Op. 39: Movements 2, 3, and 6 ↑

Flute

Application Requirements

Application Form plus preliminary videos of three works (or substantial movements of works) from contrasting periods for flute and piano OR solo flute (please no concerti, chamber music, or works for alto flute or piccolo, etc.). Works for flute and piano should be recorded with a pianist.

One unaccompanied piece for flute of 10 minutes or less demonstrating an understanding of contemporary style and technique. Representative examples are listed below, or applicants may select a different work of their choice.

Oboe

Application Requirements

2. W.A. Mozart, Oboe Quartet Mvt 3: Measures 1-59
3. J.S. Bach, Aria: Ich habe genug (BWV 82): Measures 2-34
4. Villa Lobos, Quintette en forme de choros: rehearsal nos. 7-11

Piano

Application Requirements

Pianists are invited to audition on the basis of a preliminary recording, and are encouraged to send their materials as soon as they are available.

To apply, please send:

Application Form and audio or video recordings, including at least

– One complete solo work by Haydn or Mozart
– One complete, major solo work by Beethoven, Schubert, or Schumann

Viola

Application Requirements

[Note: Applicants must be available for a full day (9:30 am to 9:00 pm) for at least one of the three dates above, as the audition will take place in two rounds.]
