Deborah Lee Luskin, author
Author Deborah Lee Luskin will discuss “Music into Words” in Into the Wilderness, an award-winning novel set at Marlboro Music Festival in 1964, on August 1, at 3 pm, at the Marlboro Community Center.
Rose Mayer from New York and Percy Mendell, a life-long Vermonter, are both 64-years old and have nothing in common except a mutual dislike until they find a common language at Marlboro. “Music is central to Into the Wilderness. . . Luskin is convincing in translating the aural, physical and emotional power of music into words on the paper. The result is a wonderful novel.” Luskin will discuss the musical passages that change her characters’ minds in this award-winning novel, including the debut of the Guarneri Quartet on August 2, 1964.
