The 1910 Building
Located in rural Jacksonville, just 20 minutes from the Marlboro campus, The 1910 Building is a destination for Contemporary Art featuring artists from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. It showcases artists who produce mature, seasoned, and engaging pieces that form a resonant ensemble with the goal of encouraging cultural interaction.
The 2026 exhibition, From Here To There, features the work of two artists whose art evolved through their working processes. Karen Titus Smith crossed the boundaries of two-dimensional, form-rich shapes on her canvases to the third-dimensional, fully formed, organic wall sculptures that blur the lines between drawing and sculpture, an innovation that stands out in its originality. Garret McFann veered from his highly realistic, historic figural subjects to the deconstructed and semi-abstracted forms that may or may not represent the entire figure, but can be construed as a visual symbol of the human condition and the passing of time, a relic of the forgotten past.
